Base V6 Camaro vs Genesis Coupe V6 - No comparison

As I mentioned in a another thread, we checked out the Camaro at the Portland Autoshow. If I were to describe the base v6 Camaro in one word, it would be: Holy mother Mary what a PIECE OF CRAP!!!.. Ok that was more than one word, but honestly I was flabbergasted at how cheap this car looked and felt. The pictures below only tell part of the story, view them at your own risk:

Whole car shot. What first grabbed my attention was the wheels. Was I seeing this right? Painted blacked out iron wheels with gray painted lips?

Yes, my eyes were not failing me:

Cheap BFGoodrich Radial T/As.. Even with Armor All they looked cheap..

Engine hood shot... I don't know what it was but everything in the engine bay looked cheaply put together. Notice the overly large engine cover, perhaps to simulate a bigger engine underneath.

Here is a side shot of the rear with the trunk open. Now you first think when you get ready to open the trunk that you are going to have a nice big trunk opening to make loading easier. ... but let's take a closer look here....

ok , first thing I noticed was the felt padding on the trunk... it gives you an idea of how small the opening of the trunk is in comparison to this car size...

and viola!! a shot of two small bags in the opening of the trunk. To put this into better perspective.. these bags are about 12" x 4".. Yes, the trunk opening was ONLY about 24" in total width!!!

Interior was equally disappointing... Cheap plastic used everywhere, I knocked on the door panels and they sounded hollow, it reminded me of knocking on wood, literally.. the seats were, shesh, I dunno, they weren't cloth exactly.. almost a neoprene type cover... but cheaper, the thread count must have been really low or something..

Interior shot... plastic galore...

Overall this car was very disappointing.. Hyundai may not have the cheapest 300hp RWD sports car but I can guarantee you they have one of the best valued 300hp sports cars.

lol the camaro looks like a nock off machbox car!! what a waste.
the wheels look like there from an old s-10 pickup
Wow, those wheels are really cheap. That interior is not like the one in the car at Detroit, it must have been an SS edition up there as I do remember rally stripes, but that does look like a lot of expansive black plastic. It also had the console guage pod which this one does not have.

As bad as this is, I still say this is better than the base 2.0T with the red.
I totally rest my case... "An American Revolution", huh? And the populous wonders why imports sell better. GM hasn't learned a single damn thing. They keep churning out garbage, hoping that the nameplate will keep their reputation intact. And there are thousands of mindless GM followers who will buy that heap of junk and rave about how great it is that Chevy brought the Camaro back. Like I said before... this is why GM is on the slippery slope of bankruptcy.

Thanks GM, you've just assured that the Genesis Coupe will be the BEST SELLING 300 hp sports coupe. The Camaro will most definitely be the cheapest, in every sense of the word.
I couldn't see buying a Camaro, unless it was a SS or Z28, How much are they by the way? Because that's weak. They haven't put wheels like that on sports cars since the 70s. S-10 all the way...LoL Man, I was suprised by that trunk. I think the Saturn Sky may actually have more storage space. The interior I was not suprised by, cheap plastic that will be rattling it's ass off in a couple of years. No thanks, you can keep that thing GM.

garrrrrrrrrrbageeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

2.0t > camaro
i wanted so bad for this to be a great car, i've always had a huge thing for camaros and i'm a chevy boy at heart, but this is such a huge disappointment... i still dream of IROC-Z and the 4th gen SS and Z28, and '71 split bumper... this new one will never be a classic, it wont last long enough.

+1 on that 71 Z28 split bumper...Sweeet...

ROFL @ Hyundai bags in the back!
even funnier was the GM sales rep thought we were just taking a picture of the bags to get an idea of the trunk size when we were in fact mocking the car.. :)
