Currently, only the award-winning 2009 Genesis sedan offers the technology which is free of charge, delivers crystal-clear AM and FM reception, and features a host of alternative channels like news talk and politics.

HD Radio is currently only available on the Genesis sedan with the optional navigation system. For the 2010 model year, HD Radio will be made available on certain Genesis models without navigation. Not known is what 2011 Hyundais will receive the HD option, but upper-end sedans like the Azera and Sonata V-6 are a safe bet, as is Hyundai’s upcoming Genesis Coupe.

HD Radio was developed by iBiquity Digital Corporation and has received substantial support from the broadcasting, consumer electronics, and auto industries. The technology is currently available to over 84 percent of Americans, they say, and as of this writing more than 1,800 HD Radio stations are live and broadcasting
