Hi everyone :)

I'm Dr Tweak, of Phoenix Tuning ( Phoenix Tuning Home: We specialize in Toyota Engine Swaps & Wiring Harness Conversions - located in Savannah, GA ) and I just wanted to drop in to introduce myself.

Over the past several years we have busy doing performance work and engine swaps on Toyota cars and trucks, which you can see if you check out our website. In recent years though, Toyota has saddened me with their lack of any decent performance platforms or engines.

When I saw the Genesis prototype last year it really piqued my interest. Then when the information about the turbo engine came out, that really caught my attention. The plan aren't set in stone, but I'm seriously thinking about picking up a Coupe as soon as they come out, and working on some upgrades for us.

Some things that come to mind that I would do right away:

- Stainless steel mandrel bent tig-welded exhaust
- Downpipe
- High-density core intercooler upgrade
- True cold-air intake
- Stainless steel braided hoses and lines for everything
- Bolt-on turbo upgrade
- Bolt-on turbo and manifold upgrade
- Whatever else you guys would like to see

Well that's about it, if anyone has any questions feel free to reply to this thread, PM, or email me at [email protected] , I'm looking forward to some exciting times ahead! :)

Welcome to the forum Dr Tweak. Yea, seems like you love the toyota sleepers. Im getting rid of my 5 speed manual v6 camry, due to the lack of performance, and the upgrades. What type of bolt on turbo? We do think the engine is not that strong as we all mentioned. But someone will find out the max hp. But otherwise, sounds like you have a idea, of what you want you want to do with the car... Good luck, we are here to help what we no, just hope you can do the same for us..

Oh you got it right, I love the sleepers!

I'm thinking probably a Garrett GT28 variant to start with, followed by possibly a GT30R. Yeah, I'm going to probably have some feelers out there for a spare engine as soon as I buy it. I'll see how far I can take the limit before we blow it :D

So, do you have a Genesis right now?

I wish I had one right now lol. This is just a picture from korea. I see that you are getting the 2.0 turbo model. Be sure to check out the specific model. Yea I would think the gt28 is a good steeping stone. I assuming most people are going for the gt35r though. I am planning a t3/t4 hybrid setup, as soon as some internals, and a racing block. Hopefully by then we all can find out the transmission and axle limits.

Welcome to the forums Dr. Tweak. I've always liked the the Toyo RWD drive cars, especially the turbo ones! If you do decide to get into aftermarket support for the Hyundai Genesis Sedan or Coupe let us know. I'm sure all the guys/gals getting this car in your area would love a near by company.

Thanks,
ss

Thank you guys for the warm welcome. One other thought I've had is swapping the 4.6 liter Tau engine into the coupe, that might be cool... :)

Someone has got to do it. I'm imagining all that torque at the blip of the throttle... either that or do a twin turbo V6 setup. If only I had unlimited funds!

Wow. Their is not that much room in the engine bay lol. U guess you got to do some cutting the firewall, new rear end, etc. That would be a good project for you. I wonder if the v6 manual tranny will mount to the v8 engine? I think this would be wiring nightmare..

I'd love to see the V/8 squeezed into that engine bay, but it won't be me doing it, that's for sure. But, if Hyundai decides to take on the project later as a super car to match against the M3 & GTR, I will probably have to get rid of my R-Spec & move on up.

Yea, a supercharged v8, cylinder deactivation, 27mpg.. You can't go wrong with that. Especially the sema genesis sedan...The genesis 2.0t with 210 or 223 hp gets 30mpg. And the Genesis Sedan 460hp and 27mpg, thats a trip hahaha.

460hp, but with a few more mods easily 500hp in a coupe no less, can you say M3 make room.
