Patrick Mordaunt began his involvement with Drifting at age 12, attending events, meeting drivers and helping out at neighborhood drift meets and practice days. He began drifting at age 14 and now, at age 17, he is the youngest fully licensed driver for the 2008 season for all 3 U.S. professional Drifting circuits: Formula Drift, D1 Grand Prix and NOPI Drift. Patrick works hard to promote Drifting at the grass roots level, volunteering his time, helping staff amateur events and working with other drivers to help improve their drifting skills. Patrick provides an excellent role model for younger drifting fans.

Patrick is an avid Drifting driver and fan who is well known in the professional and amateur drifting communities. He intends to compete professionally in 2008 but also attends and supports local amateur events and competitions like Just Drift, Drift Buffet, Drift Day and Top Drift Battle. He has also volunteered his time and effort to support Drifting, including D1 events at Irwindale and Las Vegas Speedways.

Those in the sport compact industry first came to know Patrick Mordaunt when he was hardly a teenager. The avid Japanese Option video watcher was a regular attendee at any and all Southern California events remotely related to drifting. Patrick then began hitting the local test events with his '85 Toyota Corolla before he could even legally drive on the street. His thirst to learn quickly earned him immense respect in the pits, while his passion and tenacity stood out, causing industry insiders to take notice. Add in his uncanny ability to rack up the professional drifting licenses, with three in all, and It's no surprise that many folks, such as the crew at RiceBoyTV.com, want to help the guy achieve his dreams.

August 6, 2008 (Playa del Rey, Calif.) – It’s the goal of every young drifter making a name for themselves in amateur competitions, waiting for their shot at the big time. The “Big Time”, of course, is a relative term – but for most, it’s the chance to graduate from a Nissan S13 or S14 into something with a bit more horsepower. And, preferably, one that belongs to a bigger operation that is larger than a borrowed truck, open trailer and an EZ-Up (also known as a Willow Springs Hand Glider).

Patrick Mordaunt, the youngest competitor in the Formula Drift Pro Championship, made a large step forward with his 2008 Formula Drift campaign, while driving his trusty Nissan S14. Now, he is making his next big step, as he will be taking over the Braille Auto 350Z convertible for the remainder of the 2008 season. Mordaunt will drive the car for the first time at the fifth round of the Formula Drift season at Evergreen Raceway in Washington.

Mordaunt has had one top-16 appearance in his rookie season, when he went toe-to-toe with Vaughn Gittin, Jr. at Drift Atlanta. Overmatched on horsepower, Mordaunt battled hard in his Nissan S14 to force a One More Time, before losing to the powerhouse Mustang by a mere one point. The extra grunt provided by the supercharged 350Z engine should go a ways to ensuring a different outcome next time around for Mordaunt.

“I couldn’t be happier about getting into the 350Z” said Mordaunt, who has had the opportunity to test his new ride in a video that was leaked. “Our S14 is a good car, but it will be great to pack a bit more horsepower with this 350Z. I’m very grateful to Blake Fuller and Braille Auto, as well as their sponsors, for making this happen.”

“I am extremely happy to have Patrick in our car,” said Blake Fuller of Braille Auto, who will also be competing. “He’s obviously a talented driver with a long future ahead of him in this sport, and we were eager to have him driving for us, instead of against us!”
