Rhys Millen knocked out of the Round of 32

Stephan Verdier Vs. Rhys Millen
Stephan Verdier leads, both come out of the first turn and in full drift. Into the sweeper and Steph with a slightly better angle. Rhys keeing up and both go out the course.
Rhys leads, with Steph coming out with a much better angle. Good gap into the sweeper as Rhys begins to pull away. On exit into the peninsula, Steph is side by side on exit. Great Run. They go One More Time(OMT)

Stephan leads, and Rhys is mirroring Steph through the entire course. Mirroring him, but Steph with a little bit more closeness to the wall on the transitiong into the sweeper.
Rhys leads, and Steph giving chase. Rhys being able to get a gap through the course untill the exit, good angle and speed from Rhys up untill the exit of the sweeper. Stephan able to stay on Rhys and maintain drift when Rhys losses drift at exit. Stephan moves on.

Its sorta ironic that Stephan beat Rhys, when we were in Vegas Stephan said he had been helping Rhys build the Hyundai/Red Bull car. Then he goes out and beats him first event.

Well this is sort of not a surprise.. this car s basically untested and Rhys didn't have a lot of seat time in, he couldn' t have because the car was just finished a week before the event.. Congrats to Stephan though, he is an independent driver and doesnt have a manufacture backing him (Come on Subaru!).

II'm a little surprised, Tanner Foust's car is untested he only got 3 practices in it he said. I think this is just a testament of how hard its going to be to win in the Formula D this year.

Daijiro Yoshihara and Kyle Mohan also are knocked out of the round of 32. Lots of big names not making it through.

I believe it's partly to do to all the changes in cars & partly to do with changes in new system.

As a person who has built cars that were not of the norm in Formula D (i.e. Hankook Porsche Drift car), you can only do so much testing and sometimes, testing isn't what you need. Tyler, my driver for the Porsche drift car, took only a few times until he felt that the car was good and prepared.

Besides, Rhys had plenty of seat time in that car. He had Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Today in the Genesis along with several other practice days.

It's just the beginning of the season, just give him time and soon you'll see a Genesis on the Podium.
