Spring Run of The Dragon.. You're invited.. And yes, it's worth the drive..

GenSport Carolinas was started last year with a primary goal of creating opportunities for owners to network socially and explore performance driving environments both competitive and simply for fun. GenSportCarolinas

The Tail of The Dragon is one of North America's most well-known motorcycle and sports car roads. This stretch of highway contains 318 turns in just over 11 miles with no cross-streets. Thousands of drivers come from all over North America and beyond to drive this road every year. The road is covered with professional photographers and nice rides.

On April 8-10, we'll have our Spring Run of The Dragon and would love for each of you to join us. We're all staying at Fontana Village which is nicely located at the start of Hellbender (another nice road) that takes us to The Dragon. Lodge rooms and cabins are available. Home - Fontana Village Resort We'll get started on Friday night (a few of us we'll be up that afternoon for some early driving) and we'll leave around lunch on Sunday.

I'd love to go, but 17 hours and 1k miles is a bit much for me. :\
Hey guys. I'm one of the founders of GenSport Carolinas. Thanks to Tufast for helping to promote this event at GenesisForums. This is certainly the beginning of one of the largest GC meets in the country. We are focused on continuing to grow this each and every time we meet

To put it in perspective, other cars clubs such as the Mini club have 300+ cars show up to the Dragon every year and people drive from all over the country for a long weekend in the NC mountains.

Last fall's event was the most fun I've had in years. With a very diverse age group and backgrounds, we all walked away with new friendships and learning more about our cars and what they're capable of in technical environments such as the Dragon. We will all be looking to return for the Spring run and add other drivers to the list as well.

I noticed that the links above were broken:

If you can't make this trip, you may want to consider joining our club so that you can be notified of future events.

Hope to see some of you there!

We're up to 16 cars for this trip so far and more to come. Hoping there are a few here that will join in the fun.

I'll be adding some photos of our fall run to this thread for your viewing pleasure.

View from the Cherohala Skyway: More of a scenic drive than a road race, this highway skirts a high-altitude line between the Cherokee and Nantahala national forests. The view from the top is amazing, and the road can be enjoyed at a quick clip when traffic is sparse.

Is there anything like this for west coast GCoupe owners?

I've seen several threads for meets on the west coast, but usually don't pay them too much attention since I wouldn't drive that far. I'm not sure how big most of them get, but you could check by putting a post in your regional forum & also checking on GenCoupe since they have alot more traffic.

I know my brother and a crap load of the club racer group are taking the trip out this summer... I would love to go but Im at 30K miles on the car now and I just can't afford stacking that many miles on my ride anymore. Sucks Im going to miss it this is one of the most amazing roads in the US.
I was talking to Mike over at ARK. Sounds like they're working on something in NorCal and SoCal.

Just giving you guys a quick update. We're now at 29 cars (with only four that are tentative) and 16 ride-alongs. This could be the largest meets in the country for 2010.. except for maybe our Fall Run of the Dragon.. LOL

We'd love to have you join us.

Here some additional eye candy. This is my Genger at the beginning of Hellbender and at Fontana Dam.

To put the dam's size in perspective.. See the metal stuff at the bottom of the second picture above?. Here it is when we're right up on it. Pictures can't describe it's size. Very cool for photos too..

Looking forward to this! Is there some sorta schedule or itInerary?

I will be joining you all on this as well, Tufast I will just follow you up.

Sorry, but we will be going up a couple days early to stay with my finace's parents.

Dammit.

I had to check, but unfortunately it's 17h 32m from ottawa, 1686km. Definitely NOT going to make that.

Maybe next year. Could be a cool roadtrip, if I can justify a week off work for it.

Well, they have this meet in the spring & fall each year, so maybe you can make the fall meet....it would be great to meet you!

The fall trip is what I am gonna shoot for. Loooong trip for ya but If you could work that into the schedule, it would be cool to meet you in person.

I'd love to, and the GF says I should, but I don't think it's on the books for this year. If it is, it'll be fall, for sure. I'm gonna need the best part of two weeks off work for the drive there and back! :D

Missed when I replied to Tufast, but same goes. Would be awesome to meet you guys, but this year's looking tough. Next spring might work though.

I hate bein' an adult!

I won't be able to make the fall trip & will be pushing it financially to make this spring trip, but will make it happen. Going to be staying driftinlady's parents to save $$.

Haha...bein' and adult has it's drawbacks for sure but it did allow for this Coupe

Next spring would be easier for me too actually, I just hate to wait that long but that may be the best thing. We'll just have to wait and see.
