I have been really interested in using water injection to cool down the cylinder temps. I KNOW im going to do it to my Gen Coupe, who else?

Oh yeah water/meth injection is on my list if I decide to go the way of big boost. In fact at the SEMA show I talked with the SNOW guys and they had some cool stuff and they have done a lot of stuff with the EVO and SRT crowds already so it should be relatively straight forward.

Ive been reading a lot about it and it seems like cheap insurance as well as a way to boost octane and power. Im definitely getting a meth kit though, I want a big, huge light to let me know when the tank is getting low haha

This is like the 1st I've thought about it, but does sound interesting considering I'll be pushing this engine pretty hard. Any materials & info you guys have on it would surely be appreciated. Thanks.

For those of you in the know on this, how often do you need to refill. It would seem like that would get annoying after a while. I am pretty much ignorant to how much spray is used though. Thanks for any explanations.

It depends on a several factors.

Of course first it will depend on how often you get into the throttle, but also what type of meth controller you use (whether it is straight on/off or progressive) and when it is set to turn on. Then you have to factor in what size nozzle you will be running, how much water/meth your resevior will hold, etc. I could go on and on. We'll probably have to wait until a couple people get the car and start tuning with meth injection to answer your question.

I've been doing some research on these kits, seems like a win/win situation, just getting them setup might be a pain if you've never done it before but still not hard. Lots of info out there.
Post anything you want for those of us that are lazy or haven't had the time to research yet, Thanks.

so............. what is it?
hehe, completely ignorant of this topic.
enlighten me. anyone? :D
Ahh youngling... I will try to enlighten you in a few sentences:

Water injection and Methanol injection actually accomplish two different things but they are often combined into one system. Methanol is basically a fuel that has a high octane level, it acts as a detonation inhibitor. Water acts as a cooling agent that lowers air intake temps. Both added together can allow you to run more boost in your car or be more aggressive in your tune.

Hope that helps a little :)

One other effect the water injection does is that is slightly raises the static compression ratio since water doesn't compress. And to be a little more specific on the Methanol, it's actually alcohol that is made from wood. That means it burns cooler and faster than the gasoline. I personally would stay away from the water injection and go straight to alcohol, or methanol injection.

Just off of the top of my head:

It's not needed all the time and you have to "tune" for the methanol, especially for the more modifed engines running high boost. You also have to occiasionally fill up a tank and not everyone has methanol available to them. Some get get around this by using windshield wiper fluid as some brands can have as much as ~45% methanol. Another downside is if there is no failsafe when you run out of meth/water than you can seriously damage your engine..
