Do you have any issues with your trans such as:

Havent checked in on this in a while... Are any of the new production cars having the grinding issues? When the car is back up and running(been down since Jan); i have a date with the Service Manager that had a hand in flagging my VIN with HUSA Corp. He promised me they would atleast redo the tranny for the third time now that the shifter assembly and fluid changes came down the line (I had two trans before they figured it all out)

Mack I don't think were hearing about this as much due to the summers higher temperatures thinning out the tranny fluid making it easier to shift into and out of gears... I have a feeling the complaints will return as the fall sets back in and it starts to get nipply in the mornings.

Not too worried about it in Arizona but yeah I can see the issue.

I got my Genny back this morning, damn I missed this car!! The 09 Sonata loaner was quite pedestrian...

Not all my noise issues were resolved nor the tough 1-2 shifting. But the rattle from under the car is thankfully gone. I F'ed up and didn't read all the service ticket to see what they did, the tech handwrote it in gibberish anyway. All I know was the DMF was replaced.

Now that I've had my car back for a few days the DMF replacement did nothing to address any of my concerns. None at all. But I'm confident that they trans, clutch, throw out bearing, all were checked out and passed. But it still has an ugly sound at partial clutch and I can't believe that in driving it that that wasn't noticed. I knew I should have shoved the service guy in the passenger seat and demo'd it.

Is this something i should looking into where im picking up my car this week?
Or is it all fixed?
Most of these issues are with the early adoptors that got their cars when they were 1st released. I picked my R-Spec up on Dec 31st 2009 & haven't had an issue with the tranny, but I did swap the stock fluid out almost immediately with RedLine 75W90 fluid after researching & finding that upgraded fluid has helped most of the concerns. Case in point, BlckRspecGuy is now having the 5th gear grinding issue with his R-Spec that was purchased right after mine early this year, but he still is running stock fluid.

Ok well it looks like i will be taking my car to dealer ASAP. Today on the way to work i took forever to get it to go into 5th... an when it did it sounded horrible! but i dropped it back out of 5th to down shift when i went to put it back in it went it with no issue..

Both time at normal driving with normal RPM range.

3.8 mt doesn't like 2nd gear

My genesis coupe doesn't like 2nd gear. When shifting from 1st to 2nd, it "catches." If I shift normal there is a slight clunk sound. If i shift slow it isn't smooth but doesnt grind or anything. When I downshift from 3rd to 2nd, it sometimes just wont let me. When it does let me, it will shift smooth. It seems there are a lot of trans problems with this car. Takin it in tomorrow. It only has 3500m.

Sounds familiar...when I pull out I have to shift to neutral let it coast for a second, then go to 2d and it's still rough. If I don't give it a solid pause, it clunks and fights me, although it never grinds. It lightly kicks back in my hand. I just had mine in and they found the DMF coming apart and replaced it but nothing else wrong in the tranny, clutch, etc..,

For those of you having issues shifting into the lower gears, I also had this problem when I 1st got my car. I chose to replace the stock fluid with Redline 75w90 along with the TiC front shifter bushings & haven't had an issue since. Also; I will mention that I've had no issues with 5th gear grind either. I'm not saying that the fluid exchange prevented this, but it may have.

I went to a dealership seminar the other night and had a chance to talk to a tech. He said they have had problems and TSB's are out. They recommend changing the trans fluid. I didn't ask what they were changing it to. Looks like you had the right idea Tufast

Stan, I can't take the credit for the M/T fluid swap idea, because by the time the R-Specs came out & I got mine, there had been plenty of members on the boards that had swapped their tranny fluid with positive results. I just used information that I got from the forums to make the decision to swap mine as soon as I took possession of my car. I also swapped the brake pads almost immediately as well based off the research I gathered from the forums. I spent almost 2yrs researching these vehicles before I even purchased mine, so I was prepared & knew what I was getting into & what would need be to changed.
