FWIW I have used some '100w" hi beams. They are really 70W actual current draw. Work better than the 55w and no overheating problems. You can also get some back up lamps that are a couple watts brighter (18w vs 16w OEM) at the hardware store in the outside lighting yard light section.

I also see they make fog lamps that are a direct fit that are higher wattage. PGJ13 base same as the 881, 27w. 886 50w, 889 27w, 894 38w, 896 38w, 898 38w.

By the way, I used your chart and purchased some replacement bulbs for my Gen Coupe. My coupe did have the 1156 bulb. I didn't check before attempting to replace them. The connecting tabs are different and I had to slightly force the replacements so they would fit. They are working though. Maybe the cars in the 'States' have different bulbs.

So, as a complete n00b to this, how exactly does one go about looking for replacements? Do you walk into an auto parts store and ask for the model(s) listed in the OP, or do the models change with bulb make? What are some good, commonly-available brands?

In particular, I would really like to find a higher wattage (brighter) replacement for my GC's high beams. They don't seem very good at all, especially on these really dark winter nights.

Bulb sizes are the same regardless of the company - the only thing they might do is add suffix letters like if you had a bulb that was 921 in size ... you might find 921ST where the ST is some tweak that particular bulb has from whatever the company is (specifically I think ST means Silverstar if I remember right). If you go to a local auto part store they will not have much of anything better than Sylvania Silverstars which are not half bad but they are halogen - they have been good to me for years. They have very bright white light and I had a set of Silverstar headlights last over 5 years in my truck that I drove daily. If you want LED bulbs the best you will likely find at one of those stores as far as brand is APC. You can find better LEDs from sites online but I would first look at vids of how other cars with the same model bulbs work and how the bulbs look - there are many videos out there. Diode Dynamics is having a sale on the 27th for one day and the prices are good, but, as I said try to find some video examples of the exact types/styles you're thinking of buying.

I have not confirmed any of these bulbs yet personally, since I copied this list from somewhere else. I would recommend double checking prior to purchase.

What Temperature HIDs are the stock low beams on the Track 3.8?

"Front "parking" light (next to the high beam bulb): 168/194
Front blinkers: 2357. 1157 replacement bulbs will fit right in and work just as well."

Aren't those the same thing...so why are there 2 separating listings... I am about to buy stealth turn signal bulbs but I don't wanna get the wrong ones...I want the replacement for the front turn signal bulb that is closest to the grill of the car...which I am assuming is the only turn signal in the front...

Thanks guys!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I don't own a genesis, but you are correct, the blinker is closest to the grill. However the parking light or running light is on the other side of the headlight assembly, so two seperate bulbs.

Quote: "Using high-quality bulbs, they are dipped in a highly reflective electroplating for a mirror finish, getting rid of the amber color from inside your lenses. When illuminated, a bright amber color shines like your present bulbs, keeping your local law enforcement happy and DOT compliant.

What makes InvisiLite bulbs different than others?

InvisiLites feature an electroplating process that gives the bulb a mirror-like finish on the outside, while shining amber when lit. Some bulbs on the market are simply sprayed with silver paint or use cheap quality bulbs to keep costs low.

Silver Coating:
Coating thickness plays a very important part as we do not sacrifice safety for image. The coating is thin enough only to conceal the stock amber color but allow a maximum lighting effect when needed.

Lifetime Warranty
We stand behind our bulbs 100% and use them on our own vehicles. If a bulb should ever burn out, simply return the set for replacement. We want you to feel confident in knowing these will be the last set of bulbs you purchase for your vehicle.

A set of bulbs is not enough. We include everything needed for a quick an easy upgrade for your stock bulbs.

To pull out the OEM bulbs do you need to remove the whole headlight? I looked at the back and it doesnt look like you can take out the blubs with the headlights still in??? Does anyone know? Is there anyone got some documentation they can link to me?

#39 ·
Yes you need to pull out the whole lamp assembly to change all the bulbs easiest, especially the high beam bulb H1. After you take out the main headlight on the driver side you can reach through underneath to disconnect and screw out the foglight bulb to change it too. But for the passenger side foglight bulb, you have to remove the splashguard underneath it, which is bolted to the bumper, and fit your hand through from underneath.

Thanks for the info, now to take out the headlight assembly do you need to remove the front bumper or something? I was looking at it and I only see the two top screws you remove with a 10mm socket. Then I was looking at the rest of it and dont see how it comes out?
